Let the San Diego County Board of Supervisors know that ACCESS to Sweetwater Reservoir is vitally important for the overall health of Spring Valley and La Presa.
Supervisor Vargas and Supervisor Anderson are docketing a letter to the Board of Supervisors concerning increasing recreational opportunities at reservoirs to be considered on Wednesday, March 15th.
Another priority is to seek $37,518 in annual funding for one Seasonal Park Attendant to assume maintenance and operation responsibilities of the Sweetwater Loop Trail (South Trail). This short-term partnership opportunity would provide enhanced trail experiences for recreational users at Sweetwater Reservoir.
BUT...The San Diego County Board of Supervisors need to know that Spring Valley & La Presa need fair access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir, as other communities have access to their reservoirs.
Let's band together and voice our need for a waterfront park here in Spring Valley & La Presa.

Greetings!
I request that the Board of Supervisors explore avenues for developing a park/access on the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir. The reason I want access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir is to go Running, Nature Walks, Hiking, Yoga, public space to socialize with in walking distance of my home. I am a United States Submarine Veteran that greatly values fresh air and sunlight. Thank you for your consideration in this important manner.
Very Respectfully,

Hi, my name is Monica Garls and I’m from Spring Valley. I often leave my neighborhood to go on nature walks and hikes around San Diego County and LA County. I would love to go on a nature walk in my own neighborhood.
I am strongly in favor of increasing access at Sweetwater Reservoir South Trail, but also to the north side of the reservoir. It is a beautiful place that we all admire from afar, but we need trail access for the community. Thank you.

I request that the Board of Supervisors explore avenues for developing a park/access on the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir. The reason I want access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir is for increased community health and well-being. Residents in Spring Valley and La Presa do not currently have equitable access to outdoor recreation, which negatively impacts quality of life. Please consider working to open the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir to the public. Thank you.

70,000+ people shouldn’t have to go to other lakes to see nature, when the northside of Sweetwater Reservoir is within walking distance. I load my bike & drive 30 mins to Hodges, when I should be able to access Sweetwater Reservoir. Spring Valley has open space to have an amazing trail system, but it’s wasted. We’re a community who can’t access our most precious resource. This is the other side of Environmental Equity; Fair Access. Please complete the Sweetwater Reservoir Loop Trail and build a park on the northside of the S.R.

I strongly support recreational access to the North Shore of Sweetwater Reservoir. That area is a "Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone." https://www.readysandiego.org/wildfire-hazard-map/. It is impossible to obtain fire insurance for any residential or commercial development here. A park like Sweetwater Summit Regional Park or like Lake Murray on the North Shore makes sense.

I request that the Board of Supervisors explore avenues for developing a park/access on the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir. The reason I want access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir is to open the NorthShore, as it should be. The area would bring a great area to walk and hike, and enjoy the nature. The public lands need to developed for the people to use. I would highly recommend a low maintenance trail park.

I request the Board of Supervisors explore avenues for developing a park/access on the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir. I want access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir to go walking, hiking, biking and viewing the wildlife. I live on Dictionary Hill and would like a flat place to bike and hike nearby. I can see the reservoir from my home and have always wanted to walk alongside the reservoir. As the density of Spring Valley increases, we need more parks for families to enjoy.

I ask that the San Diego County Board of Supervisors explore opportunities for recreation on the north shore of the Sweetwater Reservoir. I am a handicapped retiree in Spring Valley and I cannot access this lake which is so convenient to me. I have tried, but I cannot safely get to the shoreline where I could fish; a lifelong hobby now greatly restricted by disability. Why can’t Sweetwater Reservoir make such inexpensive accommodations?

The reason I want access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir is to enjoy a peaceful and natural reservoir, because Spring Valley has limited recreational access away from all of the industrial and high traffic areas.

I am asking that the Board of Supervisors explore avenues for developing a preserve/park/access on the north side of the Sweetwater Reservoir. The reason I want access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir is to go hiking and to increase the connectivity to the North side of Jamacha Blvd. That way I can enjoy experiencing the nature in that area and nature can more easily survive.

I request that the Board of Supervisors devote resources to gain access to the north side of Sweetwater Reservoir. The citizens of Spring Valley deserve more recreational access as most are confined to dense cities with few opportunities to experience nature. Thus, please pass agenda item #4 to facilitate hiking, biking, and general recreation for the betterment of the physical and mental health of Spring Valley community members.

There are countless Spring Valley residents who would love to see this agenda item receive actual action. As tax paying citizens we deserve to have access to outdoor recreation along the reservoir in our community.

I live on Dictionary Hill. Decades ago I would see kids with fishing poles sneaking around the fence to enjoy the reservoir. It is a waste to have the reservoir fenced off and inaccessible. I believe that there is plenty of open space around the north side of the reservoir to open an area for people to enjoy the opportunities it can provide. I enjoy hiking up in the Dictionary Hill Preserve and, if accessible, would enjoy hiking around the reservoir.
Sincerely,
Aaron A. Siggins
